Beautiful poem that sparks the imagination to make it slightly easier for me to imagine the unimaginable of what it must be like to have your country stolen from you by thugs. It's heartbreaking. I hope you get to visit it sooner rather than later and that the thugs get to visit the Hague permanently.

Thank you for sharing some of your country's history. I always find it interesting to learn about other countries and their pasts. That painting is really beautiful, and it goes so well with the poem. I do hope that you and your sister can go back sooner than you think, and maybe you can't have what you used to have back again, but perhaps you can help your country to build something new of itself. ❤️

Dearest Darya,

NEVER give up hope. The world turns on a small coin. We never know what surprises the future may bring. No one predicted the collapse of the soviet union, but it happened. Belarus may rise free again, and you may be able to return home once more. It's a vision, but hold it in your heart. Never give up.

While Belarus might have a puppet regime now, the protests in 2020 and the current opposition-in-exile (i.e. the legitimate winner of the 2020 elections) are proof that Belarus as a nation is not a mere puppet of russia. I'm sure that Belarusian culture will survive and experience a renaissance after Lukashenka and the "union state" russification project are gone. People have an innate need to know their roots and where they come from, and that's a drive that not even the most brutal colonial oppression can destroy!

The wait is always too long, but the day will come!

You write so well, have you considered writing fiction? Something with tragedy and overcoming great odds but where there is something good at the end, a nice surprise that is uplifting such as All the Light we Cannot See

Thank you for complimenting my writing, Frank! Writing a book is something I definitely want to do, and I hope I’ll have enough time and energy for that this year!

Maybe you can start with short fictional stories, easier to finish. Please put it on your to do list! You have emotional depth that would be a well to draw inspiration from.
