Khrustyky - delicious Ukrainian pastries
A recipe for crispy and delicate pastries that are perfect for the Christmas table!
This post is a part of the series of family recipes that are cherished, loved, and passed through generations in my Belarusian and Ukrainian families. I cook each recipe in my kitchen and include detailed descriptions and photos of each step, as well as cooking secrets and tips. View all family recipes from Eastern Europe.
This holiday season, I want to reshare the recipe for Khrustyky – one of my favorite desserts since childhood. Khrustyky is a traditional Ukrainian dessert that is often served at Christmas. They are very popular in Belarus and Poland as well. These light and crispy cookies drizzled with powdered sugar disappear from the plate at the speed of light!
Whenever I cook khrustyky, I instantly remember long winter evenings at home, my siblings and I all standing around the kitchen table covered in flour, and Mom teaching us how to cut the dough and form the pastries. This is one of the family traditions I want to pass on to my future children.
Try cooking khrustyky, and I promise this dessert will become one of your favorites!
