When my Ukranian husband and I just started dating, he always tried to impress me with food. He booked tables at restaurants with different cuisines and tried to cook something fancy at home. However, the key to my heart has always laid in homemade meatballs with mashed potatoes and crunchy pickles. To me, this is the best comfort food, the best celebration dinner, the best meal literally any season and time of the day. When my husband found out about it, he asked his Grandma for the recipe for the delicious homemade meatballs she used to cook in his childhood. I’m going to share this recipe with you in this post.
The recipe contains a secret ingredient and tips on making the most flavorful and tasty meatballs you’ve ever tried. Served with mashed potatoes and cold, crunchy pickles, it makes an incredibly hearty and delicious meal. Another good combination is serving them with buckwheat and sauerkraut or fresh cabbage salad.
I hope you’ll try making homemade Ukrainian meatballs this month!
